We absolutely LOVE newborns photography sessions! Those tiny little toes, cheeky smiles (or wind but who's checking) and baby back rolls. Its all just too cute! Babies aren't tiny for very long, so capturing them during those first few precious day is all that much more important to us. By the time you settle at home, get into your routine and think about newborn photographs, its often too late. Our newborn style is very natural, cwtchy and cozy. Throughout the session your baby's comfort and wellbeing are of the upmost importance to us. We never force an uncomfortable or unsafe pose and listen to what baby likes from start to finish.

your newborn session
Newborn photography sessions take place in the comfort of our beautiful garden studio space. Although we are a South Wales newborn photographer based in Neath, if you can't make it to our studio we may be able to make exceptions and can arrange to come to you. We have a big selection of baskets, blankets, bowls and other props which you may have seen in some of our previous sessions, but we are always adding to our collection. If there is a specific item you have seen in one of our images, just let us know. The newborn session itself can last anywhere from 1.5hrs up to the full 3hrs for any babies who are light sleepers, or just too cute for us to stop taking pics. During your newborn session, we try our very best to get at least two basket/blanket set combinations, and if we are super lucky, a third or some pics of yourselves with baby. The poses we get can depend entirely on the little one on the day. Some prefer to be on their side/back/front while others are so fast asleep they don’t care ( which is a dream to work with!). Above all else, your newborn session should be a beautiful experience to remember.

Before your session
What’s the best time for the session?
When should i book?
We aim see you'r little one in his/her first 2 weeks for the cutest poses and pics possible. When they arrive, pop us an email or a phone call so we can set a date asap. This allows us to make the most of the sleepy little one to pose and position them like all the other adorable newborns you can see in our gallery and blog posts.
To book your newborn session with us, we advise for you to get in touch before your due date, just after your 12 week scan is ideal but we understand if you would prefer to wait until after the 20 week scan. We take a small deposit (25%) to secure the session and take note of your due date. Babies have a habit of not coming on time so we limit the number of pre-booked sessions for the time around your due date.

Handy tips for your session
While we don't use general clothing our outfits for baby, we advise that you dress baby in something thats easiest to remove upon arrival some have the best chance of settling your little one without contending with origami baby grows.
A sleeping baby makes the time go a lot smoother and gives us much more freedom with posing and moving the baby all while capturing those super cute chubby cheeks and smiles. We are big fans of milk induced naps, so we advise feeding the little one just before you set off and just after arrive if needed.

Sibling portraits
If you would like to take the opportunity to have a few portraits with your tiny little one at the end of the session once all the cute sleepy pics are taken, a change of top or two might be needed just incase baby decides that top needs a new pattern on it.
We love to include older siblings with baby during the session, although understandably they can pose their own mini challenge depending on age. If you have another little one whom youd love to have pictures of with baby, we've found the best way is to sneak them in at the end of the session if a relative or grandparent can bring them in when we're ready. As lovely as our studio is, it can be a boring place for a toddler .
